Description

For Sale:
From 1944, a Standard Model Vibroplex Lightning Bug key SN 135200 from the WW2 era.  This is a long out of production key in remarkable shape.  The red plastic finger pieces accent the key very well.  As you study the pictures you will see this is Vibroplex's bread & butter version of the Lightening Bug, the "Standard" model.  Don't let the "Standard" movement deter you. The machined conical joints are as natural to a telegraph key as the contact points are and go back almost two centuries in use, to the days of Vail & Bunnell.  Key movement & "action" is dependent on the experience of the operator in setting up & adjusting the key for use.
The authentic bug case in the background is now part of this auction.  It will be shipped separately and both shipping charges are added together for this sale.
As mentioned in similar sister postings: for every reason I can think of for Vibroplex discontinuing this model, I can think of a reason why they would have been better off keeping it.  To this day I believe the Lightning Bug holds it's own in all aspects: operating, being used by more than one operator, being maintainable & repairable, ... it is just a clever and worthy design.  If you haven't added one of these to your collection, this key would be a very nice addition.  It was the key of choice for both military and merchant ship use going into, through and after WW2.
Condition:
Excellent, remarkable, as new.  There are very few Lightening Bugs in this fine a condition.  Now out of production for a long, long time, it will hold it's own against any key.  Please see the pictures and ask any questions now.
