    Description

This unusual accessory was listed in Singer manuals as a fashion aid, and is hard to find!
The items featured in this auction are the hard-to-find
    gauge presser feet
in 2 "sizes" - part # 121717 for all low shank Singer sewing machines, and part # 160762.  According to Singer, "smart, even stitching accents are effectively placed with the SINGER Gauge Presser Foot."  It certainly sounds like this attachment will achieve some very nice decorative work, though it probably takes some practice.  And this is a unique opportunity to get both feet and all 5 gauges, to suit all your vintage Singer machines.
The low shank attachment is stamped
    "SIMANCO"
    and
    "U.S.A."
and with its part # 121717 on the back side.  It fits all Singer low shank vintage sewing machines, such as the Models 15-, 201-, 99, most 66s, the "automatic swing needle" 306 and 319, and many others, as well as the beloved Featherweights, Models 221 and 222.  This main piece is in very nice condition, with a couple of small marks that don't affect its operation.  The finish is either polished metal or chrome, or a combination of both.
The slant shank foot is also stamped with the Singer ID of "SIMANCO U.S.A." and its part # 160762.  It fits all of Singer's vintage slant needle machines, including class 401, 403, 500, 503 and many others, including the beloved Model 301, Singer's first slant needle machine.  This piece has what's called the "blackside" finish, though part is polished metal, so I call it "half-blackside."  This lovely finish came out in WWII when chrome was reserved for military use.  Singer called it "Black-Oxide" in reference to the process which produced its softly shining black color, and never used the term "blackside" which is common today.
This set has all 5 of the gauges originally sold with the foot, including 4 pieces with measurement marks, plus what Singer called
    "toe piece A."
This tiny piece is often missing from these outfits, probably because it's so small.  All of these parts are stamped with their individual part numbers (35002 - 35006) and "SIMANCO" and "U.S.A.", like the main foot.  All of these pieces also have the lovely "blackside" finish.
I could find only a few small marks of age or use on any of the parts
, with plenty of shine left.  I consider them to be in
    good to very good
used condition.  Please examine all the pictures carefully to form your own opinion.
In addition to the foot and gauges, this auction includes a COPY of the both sides of one of the cards that a foot and its gauges might have been sold on.  I'll also add COPIES of the various pages from Singer's textbook for Home Economics teachers,
    Machine Sewing
, which deals with this attachment in both of its sizes.  It's very similar to the cardboard piece, but I think it's fun to have both.
These parts could be a nice addition to your accessories for your vintage Singers!
