Description
This is a Pattern 1913 bayonet made for the Pattern 1914 "Enfield" rifle, made under contract for Britain, but identical and also used the by the US military, identical to the Model 1917 M1917 Bayonet - Trench gun. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. Original M1913 re-marked for US use, issued for use with the Pattern 1914 and M1917 Rifle and the US Model 1897 Trench gun, for service in WW1. These bayonets were still in use during WW2, Korea and Vietnam by Guard units carrying P14 and M1917s and with the Model 1897s still being used as late as the Vietnam War. These bayonets are also made to fit the Pattern 1914 Enfield (not the Lee Enfield, but the US-made P14). The leather scabbards for these often deteriorated over the decades as storage grease and oil usually weakens the leather, or the leather scabbard bodies would dry-rot. This auction includes a reproduction scabbard that will look great in a display. New scabbards are a bit stiff (I suggest a bit of Ballistol to condition the leather). A must-have bayonet for any WW1 collector. Low flat-rate shipping (I don't try to make money on shipping... I usually end up paying part of the shipping, actually). - This one is directly as it came out of surplus. Could be cleaned up a bit if desired. Nice clear markings. Original wood grips.
