PRE WWI US M1905 BAYO-SPRINGFIELD ARMORY 1911-NICE ORIGINAL FINISH

Description

Very good condition original pre WWI US M1905 bayonet for the Model 1903 Springfield rifle. Marked “SA” on the left ricasso for manufacture by Springfield Armory and dated 1911 with a flaming bomb proof mark. Blade has nice correct original metal finish of blued strip at the base and remaining bright, which shows some scattered gray and brown patina. Hilt has original blue metal finish showing some wear to brown and gray. Wood grips have original finish and a good tight fit, lock button functions fine. Fitted in correct original leather covered scabbard that has early Krag style belt hanger. Leather shows some normal wear. Marked “R.I.A.” for Rock Island Arsenal and dated 1908 with inspector initials. Stitching and rivets are tight. Hanger functions properly. A nice pre war M1905 bayonet with original finish that will make a fine addition to a collection.
