Sideswiper cootie morse code telegraph handcrafted ham radio CW

Up for sale is this beautiful hand crafted sideswiper cootie key. This is a side to side motion morse code sending device. The base is 5 1/2" x 3" and made of 1/2" thick solid steel. Due to the fact that the base is made from hot rolled steel, there might be some pitting under the paint on some bases. They are very hard to completely grind out.  The keys weight is 2.9 Lbs. The finger pieces are made from Mahogany. Operating lever is made from tempered spring steel. Posts are polished brass. Easy to operate with a nice soft feel to the operating lever. After I finished building it, I played with it for a while and found it to be very easy and relaxing to operate. No need to slap it around on the table! Contacts are polished smooth and adjustable for spacing. Spring tension is adjusted by loosening one set screw and removing the screw under the base on the center post and moving the post to a different hole on the base. Soft rubber feet will keep it in place. Those that are experienced in using these types of keys know that it is all about timing and finger spacing. Once mastered, they send nice CW with a unique sound. Parts are all steel and brass construction.
