VINTAGE SILK TAPE MEASURE W/ WAXING SPOOL & HAND WOUND MECHANISIM

Description

Very unique Japanese plastic sewing tape measure with a silk measuring tape.  Bottom section has a spool that unscrews and contains bees wax for waxing thread.  Tape is divided for measuring and has Arabic numbers on one side & Japanese calligraphy numbers on the other.  The end of the tape is fragile, but serviceable.  Tape is rewound by twisting the stem on top to retract tape.  Mechanism is sound & works smoothly.  Excellent addition to any sewing collection.
