Description
Up for auction is this fantastic Western Union Telegraph Company Main Line Sounder, Keypad and corresponding electronics on metal and wood framed Resonator hood stand and wood base. The set features a Bunnell brass and metal 15B 120-ohm sounder in the hood. It is on a painted wood base (some peeling of paint) that has a plaque on it that says "W.U. TEL. CO. MAIN LINE SOUNDER 15B 120-OHM". The original metal stand with original copper colored paint is mounted on a 7 1/2 X 8 1/2 inch wood base. Mounted to the base is a brass and metal Legless keypad. This is connected (by original electrical wires) to some corresponding electrical components, which are also mounted on the wood base. All original wires are connected and intact. The piece is 16 1/2 inches tall. We were going to clean the sounder, keypad, etc. but we left it as found, at the request of previous buyers of such items from us in the past. Wood and metal parts exhibit a great antique patina. All pieces seem to be fully intact. We estimate the age of the piece from about 1900-1920 or so. A great and quite rare in this complete condition piece offered with NO RESERVE!!A wonderful addition to any Telegraphy, Western Union or antique communications collection!
We do not determine shipping costs! Shipping cost based on a 24X16X10 inch box at 12-13 (this piece is quite heavy!) pounds, determined by eBay using these dimensions and the buyer’s location.
